Bank of America Foundation Provides Seed Money
for Enhanced Business Center Services
San Luis Obispo - Mission Community Services Corporation (MCSC) announced that the Bank of America Corporate Philanthropy Division has made a $15,000 donation to the Women's Business Center. The donation was presented by Greg Bland, Senior Vice President California Commercial Banking.
"The grant was provided to allow the Women's Business Center to expand their business technical assistance services throughout the service territory of San Luis Obispo, Monterey and Kern Counties", stated Bland.
"In our proposal, MCSC has proposed the development of a comprehensive virtual business center", stated David Ryal, MCSC contract Executive Director. "This proposal is a way to green the organization and the services of the Women's Business Center".
The Bank of America grant will fund research for a quality delivery system, minor equipment purchases that allow for testing of the concept and for development of class outlines for workshops that can be delivered via the Internet along with other items.
Ryal indicated that an in-depth working relationship would be developed with the local One-Stop Systems, which would permit Self-employment Training delivered by the virtual business center to be part of the Workforce Center menu of services.
"With unemployment levels at an all time high in the State and in our service territory, delivery of business technical assistance via the Internet and with focus to the One-Stop Centers make sense", stated Ryal. "This grant will allow us to add more classes into Monterey, Kern and San Luis Counties", he added.
